Customer surveys continue to be a helpful tool for businesses looking to gain insight into their customer’s views and experiences with their company.  Here are some tips to make your next survey a success.

1.  Time It Right
Designing a survey that is not too short or too long should be your ultimate goal.  Surveys that are too long can bore your customers making their responses less meaningful as they continue through the questions.  A survey that is too short may not provide the information you need to make it useful.  Asking the right amount of information will help you gain valuable insight into the consumer’s mind.

 2.  Ask Good Questions
Steer clear of loaded questions, questions that are too vague, and those that are too complex.  Rather include ones that are detailed, cover topics that are important to you, and will help you discover what is working in your business plan and what is not.

3.   Consider Incentives
Whether it is a chance to win an iPad or a discount on future services, offer your customers something they want. Consumers are more likely to be thoughtful and thorough completing a survey when they are promised a reward for their input.  Having an incentive that is relevant to your business is a plus.

4.   Be Consistent with Branding
Keep your branding consistent by ensuring your survey includes many of the attributes that can be found on your website.  You may also want to consider incorporating your company logo into the survey design.
