Shhhh! I have a little secret. Come close and I’ll tell you it. Although I am a professional blogger, I struggle week after week to write stuff you want to read. God bless those that writing comes naturally to but I cannot say I am one of them. Fortunately for me, I have developed some tricks of the trade to keep the words flowing (and my bank account in the black).
If you find writing quality content as difficult as I do, follow some of the tips I utilize to keep the keyboard clicking away.
Be Personal but still Professional Sharing a personal story at the beginning is one of the best strategies for me to keep typing along (notice my opening sentences). Not only does it help you start the topic, but it also helps your reader feel more connected and makes your content more enjoyable to follow.
Focused Topics Keep the audience in mind, always. Why are they visiting the site your writing is featured on? What are they looking to learn? Write to your audience. By creating content they find interesting, you are more likely to receive the traffic and rankings you are looking for.
Keyword Confusion To keyword stuff or not – that is the question. While keywords still hold some relevance in today’s marketing industry, they no longer reign supreme. Think of quality content writing as the meat and potatoes with keywords as the Brussels sprouts on the side.
Inspiration from Others Much of my writing skills are self-taught. To develop my own writing personality while offering the readers easy-to-digest content, I researched what strategies some of my favorite bloggers used in their posts. I learned about creating a catchy title, word placement, how to make effective lists, and so much more. Much of content writing isn’t a science but rather an art.
Proofread (duh!) Grammatical errors will drive some readers completely bonkers and these mistakes can make you appear less credible to your audience. When scheduling time to write, I always set aside at least a third of my time to proofreading my posts. Because a long day of writing can lead to blurry eyes, I usually will save this task to the next day so that I can have a fresh perspective of my work. On a few occasions, I have even scrapped an entire post because it just wasn’t the quality that my clients deserve. Starting over is hard but worth the effort.
Teaming with GMS, I have learned a great deal about what quality content is all about. Providing the highest in both expertise in the industry and innovation in their practices, the team at Grand Marketing Solutions strives to ensure every one of their clients receive the best in content services.
