How to Spring Clean your Pinterest Account

It’s that time of year again. The season when we open our windows, sweep out the dust and accomplish some deep spring cleaning. But this annual tradition is for more than just the home. Spring is also a great time to give your social media accounts some much-needed attention including your Pinterest boards.

Pinterest is one platform that can quickly become dated. Broken links, spammy posts, and disorganized boards can all make your business profile less appealing. That’s why it’s so important to take time to give it a good cleaning every now and again.

Here are four steps to spring clean your Pinterest business account:

Step 1: Update Your Profile – There are few things more important to a Pinterest business account than a good profile. Make sure to include a good image for your profile pic. You also want to complete these other profile-related tasks:

  • Update the “About You” section
  • Connect website and confirm it
  • Connect Facebook business profile

Step 2: Organize Your Boards – You want your boards to be easy to navigate. Each should be assigned to a category with a simple name that can be easily searched. Also, make sure your best pin is selected for the board’s cover. Some ways to organize your boards is by theme, alphabetically or by popularity.

Step 3: Create a Showcase – Pinterest Showcase allows you to highlight your best boards on the top of your profile feed. It can be a great way to gain new followers while highlighting your most engaging content. Choose five boards to rotate through and change them as needed. You can adjust for the seasonal content or even sales events or trends.

Step 4: Delete Broken or Spammy Pins – When your Pinterest board is filled with thousands of pins, it can be difficult to pinpoint ones that are spam or broken. Start by using your Analytics tool to highlight your top 50-100 pins. Take time to verify those first. Then work on your most popular boards. And always remember to check a pin’s link before you save it. This extra step upfront will save you tons of time in the future.
